Master Your Power To Create
A Great Life Story
To master your power to create a great life story, break your addiction to drama.
It begins with developing control over that power to the point that you can live without a life story.
Life stories are alluring. They fill us with emotion. They give us the feeling of drama.
We seek drama as a distraction, as when we go to the movies. We leave our real life for a while. This happens when we live in a life story. We leave our real life for a while.
Your emotional states are reactions to life stories that occupy your mind. You imagine a condition that gives you a strong emotional charge. Sometimes the charge is negative; sometimes positive.
You live in a crisis story or you live in a story of triumph. You may live in a story of boredom, as when you think about yourself working at a dull job or sitting alone with nothing very exciting to do.
The alternative to living in a life story is living in direct experience of the present moment, living consciously without a story, to just experience life as it is right now, stripped of the drama imposed by a life story.
You cannot hold a grudge against anyone when you live without a life story. You cannot feel sorry for yourself and you cannot feel sorry for another. You really cannot grieve, because grieving comes from a dramatic life story about loss.
You cannot worry when you live without a life story. Living without a life story is living in peace, joy, fulfillment in the now. Then why do we cling to our life stories?
It may be from the fear of death. Without a life story we are sort of dead in the sense that our life as we knew it is over. We are not dead. In fact, we are more fully alive than ever. But we do not have an identity, a history, a mental context.
Our life is over when our life story is over, it seems. Actually our life is just beginning, our real life. We are really alive when we are living in the present moment without a dramatic story that distracts us and takes us out of our actual lives.
All stories are fantasies. If you miss your children you are living in a fantasy. If you feel insecure about finances you live in a fantasy. If you feel ashamed of something you have done you live in a fantasy. Why would we choose to live in painful fantasies? We do not realize we are fantasizing.
While we live in a life story we don’t realize it is a life story, just as when you are really absorbed in a movie you forget you are watching a movie, that the actors are only acting, that the special effects are purely imaginary.
You addiction to drama keeps you in your life story until you find the courage to live without a life story, to live without the drama. Then you live in the life that is present. You live in the splendor of true peace.
If you are ready to live in peace begin to deny yourself of the drama of your life stories. Notice when your mind is giving you a life story and simply switch the movie off and direct your attention to your present moment experience.
At first it will feel like you are sacrificing your life for truth, the truth that is experienced without the projection of a life story upon it. But the craving for drama will soon subside and be replaced by the thrilling aliveness of genuine inner peace.
You might wonder, what is the purpose of us having the power to create a life story? The answer is that life stories are creative. The power to create them is meant to be utilized.
Just as an artist creates a story to entertain, inspire or uplift, perhaps even teach something, you can create the life stories that you choose for your destiny. Create stories of your success, abundance, fulfillment and you begin attracting circumstances that actually “flesh out” those story lines.
Use your power to create a life story. Don’t be abused by it. Learn how to turn your stories off, to live without a life story and direct the power to create life stories that inspire you.
